Thanks for stopping by Horse Heroes Alberta!
Here you will find the horses that have been forgotten or disposed of, due to age, injury or soundness.
They want nothing more than to find loving homes that will now understand their needs.
Help us give these horses the soft they are so deserving of!
If you're looking for a gorgeous gelding, here's JR. He enjoys other horses and is low on the totem. He is 15 or 16yrs old, at minimum halter broke. He needs a human to call his own so he can learn what good attention is and start living his best life. He's friendly, easy catch and a nice boy to be around!
JR has been adopted!!
This guy's story is a sad one. He has very obvious HERDA which couldve been prevented by the breeder. By the time we got him in 3short months we'd seen him passed around 4 times. Yes he's scarred, yes he's not rideable but he's not in pain and loves attention. He gets along with other horses just fine, middle of herd, ADORES people and is always playful.
While he doesn't need any particular requirements he does need shelter from the sun in summer and to be more diligent looking for wounds or tears in his skin.
Atlas has no rehoming fee,but we do ask the new home be a bit familiar with HERDA.
Maggie is quiet, keeps to herself and is never involved in any horse drama. She's peaceful and happy existing. She'll make a wonderful companion to anyone looking for a safe, senior. We figure she's early 20s.
Maggie's fee is by donation.
Looking for sustainable energy? Eco friendly grass grazers that auto recharge while reducing emissions? Than look no further than Rick & Morty.😏
These 2 have a history we wish we knew but do know its been filled with not so nice things. Neither is very interested in people but they stick to themselves, stay out of trouble and require nothing but understanding that this is who they are. You can see the struggles they've endured in their eyes and we've promised them they'll get to live out the rest of their lives being taken care of; even if that means leaving them to do nothing but be horses.
We can't say what they know or what new owner can expect. If you're willing to open your heart a bit(and your pasture) knowing not everything we do needs to be for our own advantage, these 2 would appreciate it more than you know. 🧡
While these 2 are waiting for a forever family to call their own, we'd love some help with their costs. Sponsoring, at even 10.00 a month is a huge help to us!
Adoption fee is by donation
This boy is sound and gorgeous, but we believe he is retired bucking stock. Sold as meat only, he doesn't want anything to do with humans. For now, he'll continue to be a permanent resident but does need a sponsor!
This sweet mare just turned 3. Draft cross, shes super gentle and sweet. Her front leg is significantly crooked, so she will never be sound for riding. She gets around fine and isn't in pain. She's just a really sweet soul that needs a family of her own!
